About Us
Since Michael was a teenager growing up in Kansas, he felt God called him to be an active participant not only in ministry but specifically in missions and bringing people into relationship with Christ. At a student convention, he responded to a call for those who wanted to become missionaries. Since then, he has participated in or lead 15 short-term mission trips (varying from 1 week to 2 months). “Since before I went on my first mission trip at 14, I have felt God’s calling to reach the world with His amazing love and to minister in practical ways to physical and spiritual needs.” With his missions calling in mind, he served on the staff of Resurrection Life Church for nearly eight years where he has been involved in various ministries, outreaches and mission trips besides developing church communications tools and several generations of interns. ResLife is also where he met his lovely bride, Chrisi. Together they led a young adult group and served on the Missions Board.
Chrisi wanted to be a missionary since she was a little girl. Her professional training in the medical field and a passion for reaching the lost with Jesus are a great part of the Shead family mission to reach the world around them. ” I have a heart for helping people with physical needs and leading them to Jesus,” Chrisi said, “I want to spread the Gospel to the world and the Guatemalan people. I want to use the skills that God has given me to reach them with the Gospel and help with their physical needs as well.”
Michael and Chrisi met at ResLife, where Chrisi grew up, their first conversation was about missions and the need in Guatemala. After a wonderful courtship, they married on July 11, 2009. “We love being married and getting to minister together is a great blessing!” Michael said. Since January of 2011 they have served through ministry, outreach, and evangelism in Guatemala. “We believe God has called us to serve the people there through a local ministry (ASELSI).” they said. “Where He wants us is exactly where we want to be!” Michael and Chrisi have two sons. Both were born in Guatemala.
The Mission
Our mission is to serve with a local ministry to provide support for and be directly involved with:
- Communicating what God is doing in Guatemala,
- Developing and training local church leadership,
- Helping provide medical care and training, and
- Connecting outreach teams with local church or community needs.
These goals are accomplished with the ever present goal of reaching more people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and salvation through Him.
